Inspiration

Some of you know I currently live in the British Channel Islands: a sunny group of granite outcrops off the coast of France. With a mixed past - and in such proximity to the continent - the place is packed with history. Originally part of the Duchy of Normandy they passed to the English (and later British) Crown after 1066.

A history of Smugglers and privateers, as well as being the only corner of Britain ever to be occupied by the Nazis in WWII, these islands have very unique characteristics, yet are still definitely British.

It's hard not to be inspired living here, especially when your main topic of writing is of a nautical nature. Below I'll show you some of the things I've seen recently to feed the imagination, but what inspires your creativity?

The 300+ step descent to Petit Port - an isolated sandy bay surrounded by caves apparently used by free traders back in the day - Guernsey

The crew of this vessel were lazy (or clever). They sailed into Petit Port instead of facing the treacherous steps!
